View Full Version : [ubuntu] Browsing the web, UBUNTU Jaunty

i have this weird problem that i cant comprehend, my laptop connects to the internet using a router that starts a pppoe connection to my ISP the thing is when i connect to my router (wireless connection),pidgin has no problems connect to all protocols (i go online with no problem ) , but when i try to browse the web the request either times out or doesn't respond at all , awkwardly a ping command to any url shows that destination is reachable!!.

running ifconfig in the terminal shows two network interfaces that i don't know where the heck they come from (along with my eth0 , wlan0 , wmaster0 ...) , named (br0 , tap0) , when those two interfaces are UP the ping returns with a destination not reachable message .

when i make the ppoe connection directly from my Laptop (ppoeconf), every thing works like a charm.
anyone faced this before ?
