upgrading 8.10 to 9.04

hi evrybody, iam a newbie and ths is my first post..i have ubuntu 8.10 in my dell inspiron lap..recently i came to know that 8.10 updates are available only upto 2010 april..so i want to upgrade to 9.04..but speed of my internet connection is too slow..so that i cant download the alternate cd..can i upgrade from jaunty cd i got from http://shipit.ubuntu.org? or can i get alternate cd (not by downloading ) as i got jaunty cd?

If you have the Live CD then you cannot upgrade with it (it doesn't have any packages on it), you can only upgrade from the Alternate CD.
