Hi

I tried to instal full demo -> full installation ->

however, it got to the brown background and just stuck there. I turned the laptop off and somehow it created a partition. I only 256mb ram with XP pre installed.

I just want to instal ubuntu without dual boot XP.

With that ram Xubuntu (http://www.xubuntu.org/get) is better option.

Here is the release notes for 9.04 Jaunty

Though it says 256mb minimum, remember that some of your memory is being used by your graphics card.

4 suggestions :

1. Add more RAM or,
2. Use the alternate install disc (which is text based, less resource intensive when installing) or
3. Consider Xubuntu or,
4. Consider a WUBI install.
