Bose Speakers not Installing! (XP)

Hi everyone-

My problem is that when I plug in my Bose Companion 5 into my USB port(s), the found new hardware box appears (in the bottom right) and then gets cut off by the found new hardware wizard.

After I either cancel the wizard, or click all the way to finish in the wizard, the initial found new hardware box then says '...your hardware did not install properly and might not work.' Ive tried plugging into different usb ports, and I am working with a brand new computer.

What is the problem here!?
