Is there a program like Audiochecker available for Linux? For those who don't know here's a description:
"Audiochecker checks the origin of APE, FLAC, SHN, WAV and LPAC files or audio CD tracks. It can decide in most cases, whether the encoding is lossless or not (transcoded from other lossy, for example MP3 audio source). If not, the 'lossless' file is fake."
Thanks.

Don't know, but you can load a file into Audacity and use Analyze->Plot Spectrum to get a frequency graph of a selection. It's not as in-depth as the Audiochecker plot but you can easily see if there's a hard cutoff point before 22kHz.

I've found audiochecker runs under WINE. Its not perfect, I get more 'could not qualify the source of this track' results, but thats the way it goes.
Tau Analyzer is what audiochecker uses to detect the source of the files, and there is a .tgz version for linux-

Command line only though (unless theres a GUI for it somehwere, I'm looking LOL)
BTW- audiochecker only tells you if it is a CD source, vinyl rips and I assume other lossless files, e.g. those sourced from DTS-HD master will fail (not that I've ever seen a DT-master file in the wild)

Hi,
I am the developer of Audiochecker. Unfortunately there isn't a native GUI of Audiochecker available for Linux, and as the development of the software is discountinued, there won't be either. But there is hope...
As I read, there IS also a Linux version of the core which is a command line tool like the Windows version, so... maybe someone writes a GUI for it. :) Sadly I nor have time, nor have the financial possibility for writing one now or the near future. Even though I'd like to.
Thanks for the interest, regards,
Dester
PS: as my website is offline, if you have any questions regarding the software, feel free to ask.
