have you checked to make sure your cpu usage isn't a problem?

Have you tried to scale frequency of you cpu?
I mean my laptop went very hot until recently I tried CPUFREQ and its UTILS. I think by simply installing that my temp went lower. I tried also powernowd, but this brought me no visible result. I have read some forums saying that before it was some acpi_freq which did the trick, but it is not available for Ubuntu 9.04

Right now laptop is around 45-50 degrees, which is much better then before 70-80.

Is that any help to you?

Though I am still in search of app which would help me to control fan speed
