We are a "trending Ubuntu" shop and I went to get a new guy onboard with a new install (wiping XP). The installer on the ISO he DL's yesterday had a cool new gnome'y look instead of the old DOS'y look, but I need to set up an encrypted LVM on his laptop and there didn't appear to be a way to do that.

Any ideas? The documentation still references the DOS'y installer.

I think the "DOS'y installer" is the alternate install cd:

That's what you'll want to use for an LVM install.

Thanks, that is exactly what I was looking for. When I installed 9.04 just a few months ago, the "installer" was the alternate installer of today. When did the new one come on-line?

Ubuntu introduced the graphical installer in 6.06 -- so about three years ago. You have probably been using the alternate CD previously. I do as well due to lack of LVM and dmraid support in the Live/Desktop CD.
