Noob question...

I just finished installing Ubuntu 9.04 (AMD 64 Alternative version) in a dual boot environment (XP on the other side).

PC is an AMD 64 HP Pavillion with an ATI Radeon 2600 AGP vid card. I've got Ubuntu on its own HDD.

When I boot to Ubuntu, it seems to be loading alright but then all that I get is a scrambled display (presumably where the login page should be).

My only options for repairing this is to edit the command line, which I can access from the Grub loader.

Could anyone please tell me how to edit the startup parameters so that I can see the login page?

Thanks!

If you do a search for Radeon in this forum you will see a huge number of posts detailing problems with older ATI cards and 9.04.
