July 8th, 2009, 03:23 AM

I have laptop acer aspire 4520. I install jaunty and my video cannot use high resolution. And i search nvidia driver. Found nvidia 180 compatible with my chipset.

But when i use synaptic package manager and i want to install nvidia 180, it will remove ubuntu-desktop and all xserver. What happen? Why it remove all ubuntu-desktop? How to use GUI? :lolflag:

Please give be reason.

Thank you.

System > Administration > Hardware Drivers will install the restricted driver from Nvidia on your machine.

I install twice my jaunty and follow what you said. The result is same. All gui gone. This is bug? I use 64bit. I also try with 32bit, same result. Any idea why?
