After I've installed the ubuntu 9.04 and configured the network interface to connect to internet. When I run the synaptic package manager and click reload button to reload the list of available packages. I could not able to see a list of packages which should be in the list. (e.g. sun-java6-jdk, mysql-server etc...)

Did anyone have any problem like this? (how can I resolve this problem?)

In System > Administration > Software Sources, make sure the first four checkboxes on the Ubuntu Software tab are checked, and reload again.

If that doesn't help, post the contents of the file /etc/apt/sources.list here and maybe we can figure it out.

I have checked the Software Sources where the first four checkboxes on the Ubuntu Software tab are checked.

Here is the sources.list file:

Looks okay to me. Is Synaptic completely empty, or just missing a few packages you think should be there? Do these (apt://mysql-server) links (apt://sun-java6-jdk) work? Can you try manually installing them from the terminal?

sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jdk mysql-server
