I'm still using gutsy gibbon and I want to update pidgin to the latest version. The reason is my msn account stopped working today and not too long ago yahoo stopped working. Is they any way I can update pidgin and still use gutsy gibbon?

Thank you

There is a PPA for pidgin and it should work for gutsy. (at least I don't THINK you'll run into any dependency problems...just in case make a backup of ~/.purple)

Regarding yahoo failure, a temporary workaround is to change the server to scsa.msg.yahoo.com

ok so I used this tutorial (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=953929) to try to install pidgin and when I got to installing libpurple0 I got an error saying that libc6 is not satisfied so what do I do now? I'm afraid that I really messed up here. I can't install the last version I had from the repositories :(
