Hello,

How can I maximize the battery backup time for my Ubuntu? I am on a Dell XPS M1530 and with wi - fi enabled and lowest brightness, the maximum I get is 60 minutes +- 10 minutes.

I just need my IDE open, that is all. I can work on the lowest brightness and without wi - fi and bluetooth enabled, so I am pretty much willing to abandon everything else.

What I am basically looking for is like the power management features in Vista. Like Balanced, Power Saver etc. Or some other settings of this sort.

Ubuntu 9.04

Err, wrong location. Can someone please move it to the appropriate place?

Try avoiding any 3D screen-savers they burn lots of power

Good question. On my Asus M51VR I usually get 2:50 or up to 3:10 Vista on a good day. Ubuntu only manages about 2:15. The tweaks I have tried have made things worse. It looks like Ubuntu just isn't as good at battery saving as Windows.
