Ok I have been trying this that and the next thing for days now and I can't find the problem which will probably be something simple, I hope.
Remote front end configuration screen 1/2 has all information entered to match info in /etc/mythtv/mysql.txt file on backend machine. get error message can't find (ping) database host on the network. if i open a terminal I can ping the backend machine and my file shares are working so the machines can definitely see each other.
on the backend machine i can log into mysql using info in /etc/mythtv/mysql.txt cant do it from front end machine get error 1045.
when everything seems right where do you start?
any and all help appreciated,
