what kind of mp3 player should i get

im in a huge delima i have had my ipod nano 3g for a while now and so far i cant get it to work with ubuntu at all.

so im thinking of getting a new mp3 player i hate zune i want something that works with linux and can be customized

If I remember right, the irivers are suposed to work with Linux. Sansa also makes mp3 players that are pretty good but I am not sure how well they work under Linux.

Do you have a Windows or Mac computer that you can access?

Because I think I know how to make your ipod work with Ubuntu.

If you do have access to a Windows or Mac computer:
1. Open iTunes
2. Make sure your iPod is plugged in
3. When your iPod appears click the summary tab
4. On the bottom of the page there should be an option that says "Enable Disk Use"
5. Click that
6. Also select "Manually manage songs and playlists"
7. Then the iPod should work with Ubuntu

I tried an old Coby USB stick MP3 player I have and it worked on Ubuntu for me. It worked like a USB flash drive, so I guess songs could be dragged and dropped to it as a file on a flash drive. I didn't do much with it since I just tried it out to see if it loads.

I don't know what brand you want, but I suggest a player that's like a flash drive and doesn't need software to sync and add songs to it.

I would recommend a Sandisk player. It shows up as a mass storage device. Just drag and drop the songs you want into a folder on the player.

yeah i had one of those it was a good little mp3 player stupid me tried to wire it to a super nintendo controller and fried it


also i dont kno wat to do with my ipd 3g now that i cant get it to work with ubuntu i dont think anybody would buy it

Me and my brother also have Sansas. Drag and drop, like all mp3 players should be!

I've heard rumors that you can get itunes to work in wine... Maybe that's worth looking into. Or go to your local library and follow revolutionary's instructions.

Get a Sansa, especially if it's a Rockbox compatible one like mine (an e260).
