dual monitor and keyboard/mouse

so i had this great (imo) idea recently. i wanted to build a media center pc, throw ubuntu on it, and put it in my basement, have 1 monitor there, and also hook up my tv upstairs. Now i was thinking, if I can have dual output, can i have 2 mice and keyboards, but have them work specific to a screen?

do i just load to Xservers with different configs?

any ideas or thoughts?

You have your tv upstairs connected ?
So dual screen is already working I presume?

easiest way is to have an ssh connection to the mediacenter.
That way you can control your mediacenter with any other pc's keyboard.

Sure there is also Remote Desktop Viewer,so you could use your mouse as well, but I prefer an ssh connection.
