View Full Version : How much Hard Disk space do you have?

Similar to the other thread, but a summation, and not just your main drive.

Sum of all 'hard' disk space. Includes magnetic (standard) and SDD hard disks (and flash drives as well if you wish), but not optical disks-- even if you boot from them.

Do not include tape drives.

Include external hard drives.

Include server and NAS space, but only if you own it (not my 10 gig gmail account, or rented server space, for example).

For the purposes of this poll, use 1 GB as one billion bytes, not 1 binary GB.

Poll options will be added shortly.. just wait for your option to appear ;)

Bedroom PC
20+6Gb = 26Gb

DVD Ripping PC
160Gb

Spare Desktop
10+6Gb = 16Gb

Server
250+250+20Gb = 520Gb

Laptop
120Gb

Flash Drives
4 2Gb Drives = 8Gb
6 1Gb Drives = 6Gb
1 512Mb
2 128Mb = 256Mb

Current crop (not counting a dead external HDD), rough figures:

Laptop: 160Gb
Main desktop: 80 Gb
Old desktop: 3Gb
External HDD 1: 230Gb
External HDD 2: 500Gb

Axiom: the amount of data rises to exceed available storage space.

Edit: forgot 1x256Mb memoery stick, 1x1Gb memory stick, 2x1Gb mp3 players, 1x256Mb mp3 player, 1x256Kb SD card, not sure how much capacity in cellphone (it isn't that much), 1x dying (dead?) 1Gb internal HDD, 1x512Mb MS Duo memory card

/dev/md0 = /home = 1375.3 GB
/dev/sda1 = / = 364.8 GB
All EXT4

2 750 GB Hitachi

1 Seagate 400 GB

My future setup will be putting / on it's own raid 0. Then spliting md0 between 3 or more drives.

Netbook (x2)
240 GB

Wife's Laptop
160 Gb

Wife's Desktop
160 GB

WD NAS
1 TB

WD External
1 TB

Total
2.5+ TB

And a smattering of external HDD's, thumb (flash) drives, SD cards, and 2.5" drives I swap in and out of the externals. All said, those are probably 100 gig or so.

Man, where did all my space go?
