View Full Version : when will ipodlinux be back?

I've noticed the ipod linux website has been offline for some time now, and I'm getting a new 'pod very soon. I want to get linux on it, but I can't. does anybody know when the ipodlinux website will be back online?

Please note iPod Linux is for all iPods preceding the iPod Touch or iPhone. There is a version of Linux being built for the iTouch, but it's currently only got a command line with no input and a bootloader, so I'm sure it'll be a few years before we see more on that horizon. However, you can always install Linux on any older iPod version.

I knew about that installer on sourceforge, but as far as i can tell it's only for mac. I'm using linux at the moment and that's why i needed to install it from source at the ipl site.

That is not true. iPodLinux does not work on the Classic (6g) or Nano of second generation or higher. It works with the same set of iPods that Rockbox does.

The ipod i'm getting is a classic 4g. it should work.

Hi, I was attempting to get linux on my iPod (mini) also, but I was using this: http://www.techmanifesto.com/archives/2005/07/28/tux-on-ipod-mini/comment-page-3

The links they give you don't work and I think it is because the site is down. (PS: I am using Windows so I can't get it from ipodlinuxinstl.sourceforge.net)

If anyone has any idea when the site will be back on, please post it on here for all of us to see.
