Company I work for uses perl to run their website. I have been redesigning their templates .tmpl to interact with the .pl scripts.
These .tmpl files are hardly the most upto date things to work on but then I suppose its got me away from using Dreamweaver.

I will probably never ever see or get to work on the perl side of things within this company, but I am just wondering If I did learn it will I end up wasting my time? I know by today's standards perl is old, but do you think it is still worth investing my time and effort when their are more modern languages to learn that could be beneficial. I'm 34 years old and I am starting to feel old in this industry lol.

I already know basic php and create a website that runs MySQL on the back end and I have lots of other experience, but I am not a master of one thing.

The main standard for C(C89) is old, but it doesn't make it any less useful ;).
