I'm new to ubuntu, as there is Ms access present in Xp is there any thing in turn present in ubuntu, basically my need is im a java trainer n i need jdbc so I'd like to install all these tihngs related to java. Plz suggest a decent reply so that I can chalk out well...

To use MS products in Ubuntu, you have to install Wine or Crossover. Both are sponsored by CodeWeavers, who maintain a compatibility database of Windows apps and versions. The link below is to their page for MS Access, and as you can see, if you want to use the latest version (2007), you're out of luck:
