This pool is to guess when Flash, Java, and our favorite apps will become available in 64-bit.

I say April 22, 2010, six months after the release of Windows 7.

EDIT: "Favorite apps" doesn't include "old" or "archaic" software, current software only.

I'd say any time before now, since we already have all of those for 64bit ;)

Yeah but our favorite apps? There's no 64-bit SNES or Genesis emulator, and DOSBox is slow in 64-bit.

I have never found dosbox slow in 64-bit (unless one is low on RAM or something.) MESS (http://rbelmont.mameworld.info/?page_id=163) covers 64-bit snes and genesis. Also, snes9x (a very portable emulator) and byuu's (http://byuu.org/) bsnes have 64-bit versions. Many emulators (at least open source ones) have 64-bit, PPC, etc. ports...

Only thing I'm waiting for is Skype. And wine I guess but a 64 bit version would only be able to run Win64 apps (almost useless right now).

Flash isn't available for 64 bit systems. From adobe.com (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/000/6b3af6c9.html).

Java Plug-in isn't either. From sun.com (http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/system-configurations.html).

Why am I using it on my 64 bit Linux install then? Also note on that link, it says "Last updated:2008-10-14"

Adobe released a 64bit Flash version quite some months (nearly a year?) ago. Granted it's labelled as beta, though I have had no issues with it at all, feels very stable to me.

Don't use the 5 year old version of Java. From sun.com (http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp)
^ No clue why it still says "* Please use the 32-bit version for Java applet and Java Web Start support. " Because that's NOT true anymore.

Are you using a 32 bit browser? Also, I didn't notice the date; I'm looking for a statement superseding that one, but haven't found any yet. #-o

EDIT: This link confirms final release of Flash Player 10 for Linux. (http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplayer10/)

No, I'm using 64bit firefox with the 64bit flash plugin. It's this package for Arch here (http://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/flashplugin/).

By the way, Update 12 for Java 6 allows 64 bit support. From sun.com (http://java.sun.com/javase/6/webnotes/6u12.html).

Bad examples. :P

MESS (http://rbelmont.mameworld.info/?page_id=163) covers 64-bit snes and genesis.

Broken, non-dedicated (for bumping the supported systems list) implementations don't count.
