I'm considering putting 9.04 on my netbook, but I want to be sure I can get my 3g usb modem working first. I tried a 9.04 live cd, and when I plugged the modem in it mounted a cd on the desktop called "Zero CD", and nothing else happened. The modem is an at&t quicksilver, or option icon 322 usb.
I am new to Ubuntu, so if you can simplify the answer it would be appreciated!

Thanks.

See if this guide doesn't help you:

The guide at least made it so the computer sees the modem, but hsoconnect wont run. Says it's missing python 2.5, no such file or directory.

Same problem, hso connect wont run, missing some python file. I'll have to write down the exact error message.

Edit: I missed a line on that page, I'll have to give it another try.

So I'm still no further along with this. I installed Python 2.5, HSO Connect still wont run, says its starting and then just disappears. Log files show the modem is being recognized as a mass storage device.

If the modem is being recognized as a mass storage device then it sounds like you might not have ozerocdoff working properly. In any case, you might also try the Pharscape forums for assistance:
