Ok so I tried installing ubunto using the Live CD. Everything went well to the partitioning step, ubunto doesn't seem to recognize the partition that windows is installed in. And I mean at all...It shows all empty space. I've also tried shrinking my partition using Gparted on the Live CD. And that says Unallocated 37.27 GiB. It shows that nothing is there. I've already taken out the Live CD to run Windows and everything is still intact. Right now I am running Windows Me. Can anyone help me solve this problem.

Ya me too, I've decided to just overwrite windows with ubuntu. I think that's my only option. What windows are you running?
