I had Ubuntu 9.04 running on ThinkPad T22 for a while. I then decided to "downgrade" it to xubuntu to improve performance. Being lazy I did not do a fresh install and used apt-get update. That effectively screwed up my machine. Now I get all sorts of errors while booting and finally the GUI never loads.
I am trying to do a fresh install. I have tried UNetBootin, UbuntuLiveUSBImager to create a bootable USB on my other windows machine. However, when I put usb on my Linux machine it does not boot from the USB stick.
I am not sure what the issue is. Is there a different way to revive my ubuntu install.
