I installed Ubuntu 9.04 and it was a very pleasant experience. I was much impressed.
I then went on to install the full KDE-desktop, the XFCE-desktop and the Studio-desktop. It was great but after half a day my box was freezing within an hour of bootup: maybe the issue here was that 2 GB of Ram with 6 GB swap was not enough. But I was only running ktorrent downloads which I am accustomed doing.
I also noticed that Konqueror, when run inside of Gnome, was missing features on the left pane.
However, after I reinstalled with ubuntu only, I established the problem of freezing with when a browser (I tried 3) my system would freeze in 10 to 60 minutes.
After reading on the ubuntu forums, I came across a solution to system freezing: use the 173 nvidia driver instead of th 180 driver from system - administration - hardware drivers.
