Redundant Username

I want my original bootsplash back and not a Kubuntu one. How would one fix it?
My second problem is that when I change sessions to KDE, Gome runs is the background. I can see my Gnome desktop when I use compizfusion and my ram idles at 50% now. I don't have this problem when I use Gnome by it self. Could this be happening becuse I use GDM to log in?
