at work i switch between my laptop display and a monitor. when switching between the two, the windows get completely repositioned: most of them are placed on different desktops and the ones that aren't are placed off-screen. the ones that are off-screen don't appear in the window list, either. sometimes i'll see a corner of a window and i'm able to drag it back into place. any ideas?
edit: if i turn off the 'place windows' compiz plugin, everything gets put in the right place, but only on desktop 1. it seems to still think the screen is wider than it is, because some of the windows spill over to desktop 2.
