View Full Version : [ubuntu] windows can't see ubuntu

June 30th, 2009, 11:33 PM

I can see my windows machine from ubuntu 8.04, but I cannot see the ubuntu machine from the windows one, no surprise there.

I know ubuntu's ip address, yet still no luck. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Does Ubuntu have Samba-server installed, and shares set up?

Iowan, yes and I can print to the printer on the windows maichine. In the Win file browser, under workgroups I can see something that contains a ubuntu/Samba, but that it all, no file access.

I have downloaded and installed the ubuntu file sharing software.

Superprash2003, I have not pinged them and I'm not that familair with the terminal to do that yet.

thanks for the responses
