What I would like to do is to make a backup of my new linux installation. Under Windows you can use Norton's Ghost to backup/mirror the entire Windows installation to file or CD/DVD. Then ghost it back using the same utility. Without going through the pain staking reinstallation from scratch.

Can this be done under Linux to make an exact copy of the hard drive image so I don't need to go through installing Linux again.

Thank in advance.

Under Ubuntu it's even easier. Have a look here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=35087

Works well thanks. I would not mind forwarding a donation if at possible to CloneZilla.
