I just did a fresh install of 8.04. I then went into places / computer and then right clicked on Filesystem and finally selected properties. There are 2 things bothering me:

1. It shows I have over 140,000 items on my computer (7.1GB).
2. Just under the line that shows the number of items, it says "Some contents unreadable".

Did something go wrong with my install? Should I reinstall everything again?

Nope. You're fine :) Mine says (almost) the same thing. Welcome to ubuntu ):P

oh and ubuntu is retarded by using the fuse daemon, it reports twice as much drive space than is actually there! You are only using half of what is listed more than likely.

mine:
176,480 items, totalling 56.8 GB
(some contents unreadable)

and as root
181,138 items, totalling 56.9 GB

That's fixed on recent releases.
