The loading of XFCE desktop takes about 3 minutes, some panel items go arbitrary missing, and sometimes my system becomes hard-locked. What can cause this problem?

bad settings? try starting over, delete the xfce4 settings in your home folder & then press ctrl+alt+backspace to restart x
i'm using xfce4 on debian testing with only 450mhz 256mb ram. i don't have any problems with speed.
what are your specs?
