I've just installed Ubuntu NetBook Remix on my HP Mini 1116NR and everything is working great except the audio. I've set the volume control hotkeys and they display on the screen that I have the volume to the max. I first noticed it when I tried watching a YouTube video and there wasn't any sound. Keep in mind I'm very new to Ubuntu.

Well, I've made a special version of Ubuntu for the HP Mini 1120nr. It may work for the 1116nr as well (haven't tested it myself), but you can try it out and see (it's a live session before you install).

Believe it or not, reinstalling may be quicker than doing all the fixes yourself. If you do want to do the fixes yourself, though, you can find them here:

Thanks a lot, it's a little late now so I'll try install your NetBook Remix tomorrow after work. I'll let you know if everything runs well.

Also do you know an equivalent to UNetBootIn for Mac OS X?

Unfortunately, there is none, as far as I know. You can burn the .iso to CD using Disk Utility if you have an external optical drive you can boot the 1116nr from, but if you have Ubuntu Netbook Remix installed already, you can just install UNetBootIn there and "burn" the .iso to USB, too.

Alright so I've downloaded your custom Ubuntu.iso and I burned it to a 4GB USB Drive using PPA for Oliver Grawert I found online.

https://launchpad.net/~ogra/+archive/ppa

I then turned off my NetBook and booted up pressing F9 and I chose to boot from the USB Drive but it just runs Ubuntu I have no option to install it.

I don't understand how a PPA would "burn" the .iso to a USB drive.

No, you use UNetBootin for that. It's in the repositories. This is the homepage:

I tried this on my new (refurbished) 1116nr and it worked at least as far as the built in speakers, will try with headphones later. I am a total newbie so Thanks VERY much!
