I have a Dell Vestro 1500 laptop that is about 18 months old. I have run dual boot XP and Unbuntu 8 on it for some time, mostly using the XP for work. The XP got so bad I finally reformatted the HD and then decided to run Ubuntu 9.04 64 bit exclusively. I downloaded the ISO., burned it to a CD on another computer and installed it on the Vestro letting Ubunto take the entire HD for its partition but now I can't access the internet at all. I have a good cable modem connection that works fine for another machine, when I plug the cable into the Vestro via a Broadcom USB nic the lights are fine but no connection (this worked in the past). The OS tells me the Broadcom driver is activated. Please advise.
