thingie on his ubuntu8.10 and idk how to do add it or put it
on there hes just showing off and what not <_< so if some one
can help me or know how to put this thing on can you help

That looks like it's probably a screenlet. You might be able to find that or something similar here: http://gnome-look.org/index.php?xcontentmode=6700.

For something kind of similar but a bit simpler, you could also check out conky (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=281865).
