Trying to install Ubuntu server getting same error

Hi all been trying for the last few hours to install ubuntu server everytime i get

!! Select and install software
Installation step failed
An installation step failed. You can try to run the failing item again from the menu, or skip it and choose something else. the failing step is: select and install software

am new to ubuntu

anyone got ideas whats going on?

Instead of trying to install, go down to 'check cd for errors'. Likely your cd, the burn, the iso or something else is bad.
