Someone has written a blog
http://d0od.blogspot.com/2009/06/clever-windows-better-than-gnome-3.html
on an brainstorm idea on Gnome-Looks, interestingly it comes with a video
http://www.youtube.com/v/lsZvwyxJ9vk
and and some of the ideas presented their are very unique and should be looked at in depth than trying to kill of Compiz.

some cool concepts there. It might be annoying when moving windows around and they start getting sucked away though...

Honestly, this is a brilliant concept. It appears to be lightweight, well thought-out, and simple! I mean my goodness, that's the best GNOME idea I've seen in a long time.
If it's not in development already, someone should surely consider this for GNOME 3, or at least its own DE/WM.

I really like the concept.
but in my mind, the animations would get tiring after a while, but overall I love the idea.

I think it looks kind of annoying. If I click a new window, I dont want my other one to go and hide. And that little sucking up the window thing, what if you're just dragging the window to another location on the screen?
