Challenge!

$50 Canadian cheque to the first person who can create a kubuntu live CD that will work on the Asus EEE Top including touchscreen functionality as shown on this YouTube video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoLWf_QYjRU

The method to do it is here:

http://www.eeepc.it/guida-installare-ubuntu-su-asus-eee-top-1602/

...BUT...

It is in Italian, and the computer procedures are over my head.

I know that with linux you can set up and burn a customized version of a distro to work on specific devices, or to include certain software and localizations and settings.

I wish I could do this procedure myself, but I am not that computer savvy.

BTW, I need it by Friday, July 3. So this is a limited time offer. (But serious!)

(Maybe too much of a nuisance for $50 Canadian...???)

Thanks.

Dulwithe.

The link you posted didn't look that hard to do - just follow the instructions and you should be fine. The hard part of your request is creating a custom LiveCD (instructions can be found here (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCDCustomization)). Is having a custom LiveCD for it absolutely necessary? I don't have one of those computers, so sucks for me. :D

Yeah, I'm trying it but with no luck so far...

;-(

Custom live cd's are no problem with Dreamlinux, PCLOS, and Mandriva (software wizard takes you through the process). I am guessing it can be done fairly easily with Ubuntu/Kubuntu. Main problem is, to do it, someone will probably have to have the same hardware.

And why do I need a live cd??? Because I can't get it working (I am not savvy at all), and if there is a live cd, I can pop it in, power on, and then I am good to go! Also, a live cd can be sent via internet, and with a live CD I don't have to waste my time trying things that don't work.

I have been working on this computer for 3 hours a day for 5 days now!! So, 50 dollars is nothing for me to pay to remove my frustration...
