They need to do something, Oracle is a company with great power but no motivation it seems.

Since there's lots of pros and cons for them to move their strategy to Ubuntu, they won't. Ubuntu needs even/much more desktop Linux market share for Oracle to think again.

Well Oracles inrterest right now can still be good, even Ubuntu's smaller market share can still benefit.

Most likely Oracle's ineterest will be in the server market, but I hope they would also shoot something good for the desktop users, if there is ever such a deal. ;)
