Adanufgail
June 25th, 2009, 09:04 PM
I just installed Ubuntu onto my Desktop computer. Following the install, when attempting to boot to Windows, it tells me

NTLDR is missing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PS, this is on my laptop, in a sec or two I will post boot_info_script results and grub's menu.lst

EDIT:

============================= Boot Info Summary: ==============================

=> Grub0.97 is installed in the MBR of /dev/sda and looks on boot drive #4 in
partition #5 for /boot/grub/stage2 and /boot/grub/menu.lst.
=> No boot loader is installed in the MBR of /dev/sdb
=> No boot loader is installed in the MBR of /dev/sdc
=> Windows is installed in the MBR of /dev/sdd
=> No known boot loader is installed in the MBR of /dev/sde

your windows bootloader is missing: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1014708

then you may have to restore GRUB.

I've done the whole process about 5 times now. No luck.
Also, apparently Linux and everything else ever have a different idea about hard drive order.
Whenever I setup grub on hd0, all I get is ntldr on /dev/hdd1 (which Grub calls hd3)
If I put grub there at hdd1 or hdd, I get the NTLDR missing.

sometimes GRUB and BIOS read your boot order of Drives differently. Go into BIOS & note the boot order of your drives. Change your windows entry in menu.lst to coincide with what BIOS says.
