Hello,

I recently upgraded from 8.10 to 9.04 on an older HP Vectra with a 3D Labs Permedia II 2D and 3D video card. On reboot it says that the video modes, 1024x768 etc, are not found. It drops into the command line for login. I looked at the file xorg.conf and found the video card identified and the video modes defined with a default depth of 24. Next I tried the recovery mode at the grub boot and it has wiped the xorg.conf file clean installing "default monitor" and "default video". I guess I need some info on how to get the card and monitor configured. I used to use XF86conf on my older installations. Is there a similar xorg.conf routine available now?

Thanks in advance
