How can i install Ubuntu on my Mac G3 B&W? I burned the download i got from the site onto a cd but when i hold in the C key on boot-up, nothing happens? Anyone know?

I think you must have downloaded a standard x86 or 64 bit image. Neither of those run on PPC chips. Follow the above link to be directed to the ubuntu wiki on PPC version. You should probably read the faq and known issues ahead of time, while you download the PPC version from here (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PowerPCDownloads).

I'm also a bit uncertain, I read that G3's have a bit of a configuration problem with the xorg. You might have to do some research on Google to see how others got around it. I can't help you past that, I never owned any Macs.

When i press C to boot from the CD the prompt comes up, but it only lets me start a live session. i cant install the OS from there, and when i do startup a live session, nothing happens for a few seconds then random flickerings on the entire screen. Anyone know what to do?

Ok everytime i try and run the Desktop CD for PowerPC on my Mac G3, the screen goes white for a few seconds and then i get random purple and colorful static. Anybody know what's up?
