You know how occasionally there are information windows that appear somewhat transparent (the one that appears in the top right hand corner informing you are connected to a wireless network, for example).

These windows now appear as white boxes- it is impossible to determine what is inside them. You can still click things inside them (you basically have to click around randomly inside them until they close) but it's needless to say making things very difficult to get done.

Is there any way to revert the gfx back to how they were? And after that is done, if there any way to get my laptop to go back to communicating with my tv the way it does seamlessly in Windows? I am really having trouble with getting it to work and would appreciate any help or advice to wrestle this back into submission.
