I decided to install Kubuntu environment from Ubuntu Synaptic Manager and for some reason I can't use any of the KDE themes. It's stuck on using Gnome themes and it's really aggravating me. is there a fix for this? or Do I have to install a fresh copy of Kubuntu?

Odd, usually I see the reverse due to certain issues with GTK-qt.
What version of KDE are you using?

I was using Ubuntu 9.04 before I added Kubuntu through Synaptic Manager.

At the login in screen, can you click 'Sessions' and choose KDE as your environment? Choose to use for this session only. If it fixes things, log out, choose KDE from sessions again and this time make it the default.

Try Xfce. It is my personal favourite, lightweight and fast (I like the easy to set custom short-cut keys for opening apps). I have a bunch of desktop environments to choose from at 'Session' at login: Openbox, Xfce, KDE, Gnome I can use with my install of regular Ubuntu.
