Currently I get new Linux kernel updates from "http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/".

I'd prefer a repository method so the auto updates would let me know when a new kernel comes out instead of checking my self once in a while. Does any one know of any such repositories?

I must not be understanding your question because you don't have to do anything, except have "check for updates" turned on in Update Manager. Kernel updates are in the standard repository.

For new kernels you have to compile it yourself. Read (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Kernel/Compile)

I'm running 9.04 and the default kernel is 2.6.28. Update Manager will only give you security updates and it will still be 2.6.28. It wont give you the very latest stable kernel from kernel.org.

I've been installing pre-compiled binary kernel packages for a while now with out any issues.
