View Full Version : [all variants] grub fails to boot ANYTHING after update

I am currently writing this from the Ubuntu Live CD.

When I upgraded grub, it asked me that its menu.lst was incompatible with mine. For the first five times, I hit 'three way merge', and then, after being thoroughly annoyed by them, just hit 'use grub's menu.lst' and, well, now I can't boot. Everything I try gives me an 'Error 15: File not found', and reinstalling it always fails, due to the fact that grub's find command always returns an 'Error 15'. My Google-fu has failed me here, so this post came into existence.
How do I reinstall grub without having to use grub itself? Reformatting shouldn't be an issue, but if it's avoidable, avoid it.

You can reinstall GRUB from a LiveCD, as follows:
