Asus P5 on board raid wont work?

Or i dont know how to get it working. Running 9.04 desktop 64bit. I tried to set it up but get a grub menu and then it fails. I turned off the raid and reloaded and went right in. I want to run 3 10krpm V.Raptors in raid 0 and run VM's off it. If my onboard wont work can anyone suggest a good card that works with ubuntu.

I've heard that the desktop version doesn't recognize RAID. You will need to use either the Alternate CD or the Server version.
