My laptop display is huge and beautiful, 1920x1200, so there's no way I won't use it. I have two 22" samsung monitors (each have vga/dvi) that I was using on my workstation (which is now a server and needs no monitors), which I'm now not using at all.

I would like to connect both diplays to my laptop when I am at my desk. I am confronted with two problems:

1. I have a single vga out port. I have no DVI port. I have a single HDMI out port. Any suggestions for hardware adapters?

2. I connected a single display via vga. I use compiz with desktop cube enabled. The second monitor effectively doubles the size of every virtual desktop and rotates with the primary ... it's like it just spans the display across both. Is it possible to instead fix it to a static virtual desktop that does not utilise the desktop cube effect?
