Now that Acer has released 11-inch notebooks and Asus recently announced they were going to jump on the 11-inch bandwagon, just wondering if any users to the forums have one of these machines? Thoughts?

Please keep the discussion regarding thoughts related to 11-inch netbook -- that's crazy, that's not a netbook, why? -- to a minimum please! :)

I'd rather wait for Smartbooks to be released.

Personally my 10 inch Lenovo S10 is just about as big as a 'netbook' should get. Once it hits 11 inches it is officially an economy-sized laptop.

I don't want my computer to be tied to a monthly 3G fee

I have my Advent 4211 (Exact same as MSI Wind, just better colour). 11 inches is a small laptop IMO.

Does a Toshiba Portege 3440CT (http://thumbnail.image.rakuten.co.jp/@0_mall/digital-dragon/cabinet/portege3440ct.jpg) count?

I've had one for years.

I have just been looking at the new Benq 'Joybook Lite U121 Eco'. They have not been released yet so no price but 11.6". I am thinking of buying one when they hit the market (depending on the price!).

I think the idea of 'netbook' is that is exactly what it is; you are not going to make movies or master a studio recording on it. You are going to surf the net, watch a few dvd's, Skype, etc. The name 'netbook' is probably more about purpose than size. Hey, I've seen some big books!

Woah. It weighs 1.5 Kilos, without battery! That's a laptop.

For me a netbook it's to small. I find a 17-inch laptop easy enough to carry.

To each their own. I love my 12" Thinkpad. Very portable and fast. Then again, I don't use my laptops much anyway.

Call be crazy, but I thought ordinary laptops were too underpowered to do video editing or any intensive work like that.

If you have a dual core processor, 2-4Gb of RAM and a couple of hard drives, it doesn't really matter what the box looks like. There are plenty of these around designed with a different concept about the function of a laptop than Facebook and MP3's.

Two drive bays were once more common but rarer now and designed more for the professional.
