Hi
I have a problem that I hope you guys can help me with.
I had a laptop with ubuntu 9.04 installed on. there were no windows on it. I gave it to my son so he could use it for playing WOW. He found a program called wine for running windows applications un ubuntu. He was'nt quite happy with it so he wanted to remove ubuntu and install XP.
Bottom line! He somehow managed to delete the partions in ubuntu, and now the laptop just shows a GRUB> promt and it wont start ubuntu and it can not boot from the XP cd.
How do get the computer boot from the XP cd, so I can install XP?

Note
I am totally newbie to ubuntu, i dont even know what the GRUB> promt means.

Thanks Longaa

Make sure your bios is set to boot from the cd drive first. Often you need to press a key right after starting up, such as F4. If you do not have the computer's docs, then you may be able to find something about it on google.

I know, I have set the boot sequence correct in the bios.

If your computer is set to boot from the cd drive first and does not do so, then two things may be wrong -- the disk has become corrupted, or the drive is faulty.
