alternate install methods ...

I would like to install Ubuntu to a computer hard drive. Normally, one downloads the image and burns it to a CD or DVD and uses that to install the distribution.

What are my other choices these days? Can I use a memory stick to do the same? Can I download to one partition and then install from that image without burning it to CD?

Any other ideas? Network installs?

Is there a problem with your CD drive? That's the most straight forward means and usually easiest for people to do.

There is also a network install available, but that's really not required unless your going to install on a fairly large scale...

If your just installing on one PC, try the CD it should work. If you need guidance, we're always here.

You can install from a USB stick, but your BIOS has to support booting from USB.

If you go that route, you want to use UNetBootIn to "burn" the .iso to USB.
