I just installed Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.04 on an Advent 4211 netbook (it's a rebranded MSI Wind). I have replaced the 80GB SATA hard disk with an 8GB solid state disk. The installation went smoothly. However, once the install was complete and I restarted the system I got the following grub error:
GRUB Loading stage1.5
GRUB loading, please wait...
Error 18
I have looked up the error on the forums and also on Google and most of the posts I have seen say it is something to do with dual-booting. But Ubuntu is the only OS installed and it takes up the whole 8GB.
I have tried re-installing GRUB from the live CD.

I also read somewhere that someone got around the problem by manually setting up the partitions instread of letting the installer do it automatically. When I did this and re-installed Ubuntu GRUB still failed, but this time with error 16.
I installed Windows XP on the SSD and it installed and booted fine, so there doesn't appear to be any issue with the SSD. There are no settings in the BIOS relating to hard drives.
Any help solving this would be greatly appreciated!
